Debbie Lapierre

Debbie LapierreIt is important to know and understand the education system we have chosen for our children. To this end, I have been a member of parent council at Agnew H. Johnston since my oldest daughter started JK eight years ago and have advocated for the betterment of programming, environment and health of all students.

I am running for Lakehead Board Trustee to represent families that have chosen the public school system, which I believe is an excellent form of promoting a passion for lifelong learning in a diverse cultural experience. The next four years need a fresh perspective and forward thinking and I would like to be a part of this exciting transformation.

I'll work towards transparent and economically sound decision making processes, emphasizing accountability and approachability and improving communication between the board and all of its stakeholders. I will welcome and bring forth the ideas, opinions and concerns of parents, educators, neighbours and the community.

I was born in northern Ontario and lived in British Columbia where I obtained a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I have worked in this medical field for nearly 20 years and would now like to work for my community also. I fully realize the value of education and I have the energy and drive to make a difference.

Thirteen years ago I moved to Thunder Bay to be closer to my family. It's here that I met my husband and we are raising our two beautiful children.
