Loretta Fonso

Loretta Fonso Catholic education in this province has flourished for 150 years for many reasons. It has given students, teachers and parents a firm grounding in the ways of the Catholic faith and has been most successful in educating and preparing our children for the future. I have proven myself to be committed to Catholic education.

As a teacher with the Catholic board for 40 years, I have always been involved in board committees covering a wide variety of topics. As a member of the Catholic Teachers' Association, I have had many years of experience in collective bargaining and negotiations, which will enable me to see both sides of issues.

I was awarded a lifetime membership in the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association for my contributions to Catholic education and have won the Bishop Redding Award presented by the Catholic Principals' Council for teaching excellence.

I am an active participant at St. Dominic's Church where I am a lector and eucharistic minister. I am also a member and past executive member of the Catholic Women's League.

I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective to the board in my role as trustee in an effort to maintain the goals and mission of the Catholic School System. I strongly believe in the Catholic system and am prepared to fight for its continued presence in Ontario.
